Together with the King of the Jungle, Cheeky’s team has created an already popular trek for people wanting peace and serenity. It means an early alarm call in the morning, but it’s worth it. ‘The Spirit of Sunrise’ is a unique trek that allows guests to experience the awakening of the jungle.
>A peaceful amble takes guests to the edge of the Leuser National Park and its magnificent jungle. The Cheeky’s guides serve a hearty breakfast as the sun dramatically rises above the mountains and the canopy. A cacophony of jungle sounds and the song of the gibbon welcomes a brand new day. After breakfast, the trek takes guests deeper into the jungle in pursuit of spotting orangutans, monkeys, gibbons, hornbills and other colourful jungle birds and snakes. Incredible flora and fauna cocoons guests as they meander through narrow pathways. It’s highly unlikely that other junglers will be spotted at this early hour.
This ten-hour trek requires some stamina, but it gives also gives junglers the opportunity of exploring awe-inspiring nature, orangutans, lizards, monkeys and colourful birdlife. The before-dawn start means that it’s doubtful that guests will see any other homo sapiens throughout the trek, the headstart in the jungle is almost-guaranteed to offer complete solitude.
After a long day; the guides recommend a peaceful, shoes-off tube-journey back to base where therapists eagerly await guests with an array of soothing essential oils for a blissful sunset massage. A perfect way to relax aching muscles and to end the day before a delicious garden-to-table dinner.
This trek is perfect for those junglers wishing to spend as much time surrounded by nature as possible and allows them to witness wildlife awaken from a night slumber and be ahead of other trekkers. The trek covers two days of ground in one day. A gentle tubing-ride back to base gives tired junglers a chance to rest before enjoying a heady cocktail or a massage after an extraordinary day.
