El mejor sitio de Bukit Lawang para quedarte si viajas solo. Iba a quedarme 2 noches antes y después del trekking y acabé quedándome una semana entera. Ambiente increíble, el staff ameniza las noches con su música en directo. También el mejor sitio de la zona para comer, Eli es una cocinera INCREÍBLE, además de una persona amable, divertida y cariñosa. Hendri hace los mejores cafés y Yoris se encargará de hacer que no quieras irte nunca. Sarah es una anfitriona genial, no dudes en preguntarle cualquier cosa relacionada. Si pasas por aquí, tómalo con calma y disfruta de cada noche en la jungla, las posibilidades son infinitas, muchas gracias por hacerlo posible. ❤️

Ik weet zelfs niet waar ik moet beginnen, dit is een absoluut magische plek, alles klopt gewoon. Het personeel is hartverwarmend, het eten is geweldig, de kamer was heel comfortabel. We zijn met hen naar Berastagi geweest en hebben de vulkaan beklommen, daarna hebben we een olifantentrip gedaan vanuit bukit lawang en als kers op de taart deden we een jungle trek. We kozen ervoor om in cheeky te slapen en vandaar een ochtendtrip en dagtrip naar de jungle te maken. Felix heeft ons de trip van ons leven bezorgd, hij is een geweldige gids en we raden hem absoluut aan!!! Dankzij hem zagen we meer dan 10 orang-oetangs (met baby), een slang, héél veel apen en zelfs een gibbon familie met baby. Sarah heeft alles tot in de puntjes geregeld waardoor wij zorgeloos en met volle teugen hebben kunnen genieten. Cheeky zal voor altijd een speciaal plekje in ons hart hebben. ❤️

I was very pleased with my stay at Sumatra Cheeky Monkey. The staff are attentive, welcoming and genuinely friendly. They made sure I felt at home from the very first moment. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and the food delicious. The jungle guides are extremely knowledgeable and clearly place great importance on protecting nature and wildlife. They value ethical and responsible behaviour in the jungle, which made the experience even more meaningful. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to stay here again.

Can only book accommodation if you book tours with them. This is not declared anywhere and when asked tried to dance around the question then insinuated other tours were unethical unless it was there's . This is not the case they just want your money. Very unhelpful would not recommend. Their response is simply untrue we paid the same amount as the price of their tours they just can't seem to grasp that

We had an incredible stay and absolutely amazing day trekking with Rian and Chan from Cheeky Monkeys! Our guides were incredibly kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the jungle and its wildlife. Throughout the trek, they shared so much interesting information and made sure everyone was having a great time. They worked really hard to help us spot as much wildlife as possible, and thanks to them, the day exceeded all our expectations. We were lucky enough to see four orangutans, including a mother with her baby, which was truly unforgettable. We also saw several other monkeys, including the fascinating Thomas’s leaf monkeys with their distinctive silver-grey fur and unique hairstyle! It was clear that Rian and Chan genuinely care about both the animals and their guests. Their enthusiasm, experience, and positive attitude made the whole experience even more special. If you’re visiting Bukit Lawang, we couldn’t recommend them more highly. Thank you both for such a wonderful and memorable day in the jungle! 🦧🌿❤️

We had an absolutely unforgettable 2 days and 1 night jungle trek, and a huge part of that experience was thanks to our incredible guides, Felix and Yoris. From the very beginning, they made us feel safe, welcomed, and excited for the adventure ahead. Their knowledge of the jungle was truly impressive—they were able to spot wildlife we would have completely missed on our own, including orangutans and gibbons, which was a dream come true for us. They also shared so much insight about the ecosystem, plants, and animals, making the whole trek both fun and educational. Felix and Yoris were also very attentive and thoughtful throughout the journey. They made sure we were comfortable at all times, kept a great pace for the group, and always checked in to see how we were doing. Their positive energy, sense of humor, and passion for what they do really made the experience extra special. The overnight stay in the jungle was magical, and everything was well-organized—from the campsite to the food, which was delicious and exceeded our expectations. We couldn’t have asked for better guides. If you’re planning a jungle trek, we highly recommend Felix and Yoris—they will make your experience truly unforgettable! The accommodation was also exceptional!

There are lots of places in Bukit Lawang with a similar offering in terms of jungle trekking, but I don’t think the energy and expertise of Felix and Yoris could ever be matched. We really loved our 3D/2N trek with them, thier enthusiasm was infectious and we had a lot of fun. The jungle campsite is basic but completely fine and the food is delicious and generous. Back at cheeky monkey HQ we stayed in the fan room which was very good value, surrounded by pretty gardens and just a few minutes walk to the restaurant, where thier chef - Ellie, makes delicious meals. The only thing I will say is that we would have preferred to be given a chance to shower and freshen up when we arrived after a long journey, rather then having to sort out and pay the bill straight away, but this is just constructive feedback and not a critique - it didn’t take away from our overall experience. Big thanks to the cheeky monkeys team!

An unforgettable experience! Trekking with Felix and Yoris would have been enough even if we didn't see any wildlife. Orangutan encounters were handled sensitively and with total respect to the animals and their habitat. As guides they understood our capabilities and did everything they could to make us truly feel the jungle experience and their hospitality and warmth went way beyond expectations. Special mention to Amjar our jungle chef who somehow managed to make us leave the jungle heavier than when we went in! Meals were delicious, incredibly generous and always taken 'perlahan perlahan'. Back at Cheeky Monkey HQ we were able to unwind in comfort and enjoy the slower side of Bukit Lawang, the restaurant food and service is excellent, try their beef rendang! Highly recommended stay and trek and even better knowing they are maintaining an ethical and sustainable way to see orangutan in the rainforest.
