Trek Itinerary
After breakfast, your guide will meet you at your accommodation at 9:00 AM to begin the one-day trek. It will start with a short introduction and safety briefing. You'll follow the river, walk gently uphill, and pass through small rubber plantations on the way to the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.
Inside the park, your guide will help you look for the famous Sumatran orangutans in their natural habitat. It is highly likely you will spot a semi wild orangutan here, as they are quite familiar with humans and often come down from the trees. You will then continue to search for other wildlife such as Thomas leaf monkeys, macaques, and even gibbons. Enjoy a delicious lunch and then continue walking through the forest to spot even more flora and fauna whilst your guide explains how different trees and plants are used by animals and local people for food and medicine.
The trek finishes with a fun tubing ride along the Bohorok River, returning to Bukit Lawang around 3:00 PM.
