Spotting orangutans in their natural habitat with these guides was a dream come true, and I felt safe, cared for, and deeply connected to the jungle. All the staff has been exceptionally kind and helpful and the trek was amazing. Sarul and Darwin were great guides and put so much care and attention in everything (our fruit banquets on the trek were stunningly put together). Our cook Amja was also really kind and somehow cooked us maybe the best meal of our trip while in the middle of the jungle, we're still amazed at how he managed that. The trek itself was unforgettable, but what truly made it special was the people. The company and conversations with Sahrul, Darwin, and Amja were something we’ll cherish forever. We laughed endlessly, learned so much, and genuinely had the best time together. And the experience didn’t stop in the jungle. Staying at Cheeky Monkey was just as incredible. Ellie and Atun welcomed us with delicious food and constant smiles. Sahrul’s young, bubbly energy—singing songs while trekking and showing us around throughout our stay—was infectious. We did the trek with a different company but stayed in the villa after our trek and it was the perfect way to wind down and treat ourselves! The villa is clean, spacious and the grounds are stunning! The food from the restaurant is amazing, we ate there nearly every day! Apart from the room and facilities, what makes Cheeky Monkeys an incredible experience is the owners and staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful and you really feel that they are happy and excited to have you there! A very lovely place surrounded but lush jungle. The owners are absolutely lovely including their dogs. They welcome you in like family. I went on a 2 day trek with their guide called Darvin. He is absolutely amasing. I would highly recommend going with him to the jungle. He is well informed about everything in the jungle and what impressed me is his love and commitment for the preservation of this beautiful place. I definitely would recommend him.
